Welcome to A Heart for Nonprofits, your writing source for all things nonprofit. My name is Sandy Studebaker. As a board member of two local nonprofits, I know firsthand the need for fundraising and grant writing. The nonprofits I am involved with are run solely by volunteers which means there isn’t much time for writing fundraising letters or looking for grants.
Working for a nonprofit can be the most rewarding and the most exhausting job you’ve ever had. There is the constant need for funds to do the work you’ve been called to do. Planning fundraising events, acquiring potential donors, keeping current donors, applying for grants. The work is never ending. That doesn’t even count the work your nonprofit actually does.
As your grant writer I will:
- Research grants for you and make a list of potential funders
- Write Letters of Inquiry for those funders who want them.
- Write and submit actual grant applications on your behalf.
Grant Writing Isn’t Enough
You know you can’t survive on grant funding. You need a donor base of people who are as passionate about your cause as you are. People who will support you on a regular basis. You need to stay in contact with your donors, letting them know just how much they are needed and what their donations have accomplished. To get those donors, and keep them, you need to tell your story, the impact your nonprofit is having on the world. All of this takes time, time many nonprofits simply don’t have.
- I can write newsletters for your current donors describing how their funds are furthering your cause. Their cause.
- I can write fundraising letters to acquire new donors.
Think of me as your nonprofit virtual assistant. On call and ready to raise funds.
